Blockchain Technology Takes Charge of NYSC Certificate Validation

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi has revealed that all things being equal, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates in Nigeria will now be validated and certified with the aid of Blockchain technology.

The DG made this known while addressing stakeholders at the policy dialogue between the Ministry of Communication, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and of course, Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology of Nigeria (SIBAN), tagged; Driving Sustainable Economic Growth and Development through the Adoption of Blockchain Technology. According to him, he was approached by the DG of the National Youth Service Corps to assist NYSC in eradicating NYSC certificate forgery and irregularities.
He therefore announced that the corps will soon have all her certificates on the Blockchain to tackle the forgery menace combating NYSC.
Meanwhile, the DG emphasizing the merits of the technology said he got his first house and car in Abuja through Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), and since then has been an advocate for the digital economy.
He therefore, lauded President Bola Tinubu's administration, who he said has a strong interest in Blockchain Technology. He maintained that the technology can generate over $1.7 trillion in the global GDP if well harnessed by everyone in the world.
However, he said the technology will be profitable for Nigeria, stressing that if the country is well positioned in the global digital economy, it can generate over $40 billion for its GDP by 2030, and it will also be another source of employment for the people.
The DG thereafter thanked all the stakeholders present at the policy dialogue, while encouraging them to ensure that they are fair in their justice and come up with policies that can help shape the country and boost the economy of Nigeria as a whole.
